When I think back to when I felt comfortable, vulnerable, and ultimately myself, it was always during a “girl talk” time. Growing up with many siblings, I always used to be a shadow to my older sisters and be intrigued by all the topics they were discussing. Or, we can all relate to this: when you overhear your mom on the phone gossiping with a friend or family member, she will look at you and say, “Stay out of grown folks' business.” Now that I am a little older, conversing with the ones close to me has helped me overcome a lot! Even those unserious conversations where you’re chatting about the latest gossip or your favorite show have helped take away how serious life can sometimes be. Nonetheless, I have always benefited from a good talk and walked away with something, and I hope this blog will do the same for you!

Growing up as an only child, I always found myself surrounded by the older women in my family. I always wanted the sisterly bond my mother and aunts had, so I found myself seeking that within my friendships. When I saw my family interact with each other, it was always raw and honest conversations with hints of humor to help each other grow as people. I took that mannerism with me throughout life, which helped me view adulthood as something that can be fun and playful, especially when life starts to get serious. Having Girls talk with people we love and care for is meant to help us improve in all aspects of life, but all conversations of improvement don’t always have this severe undertone. This journey of self-improvement and reflection can be as playful as it is serious, and I hope this blog helps you see the fun in it.
